Longstanding tensions between police and the public have urged the formation of cooperative relationships necessary for the effective policing and provision of community safety. “Defund the Police” Movement in US and Hong Kong 19/20 protest has brought the issue up again in the eyes of the public.
Meanwhile, communities are calling for more openness, more transparency, and more inclusiveness from their police departments. Architects can untie the knotty issues that have created distrust between communities.
Building positive public-police relationships should be a comprehensive strategy that includes considering everything, including the design of public safety buildings.
Therefore, this scheme proposed to erode the fortress-like nature of traditional police facilities, creates a building that supports and celebrates the local community and the life in the city.
