a region of Maharashtra known for its rich temple heritage and also known as the land of saints, Marathwada comprising of 8 districts, Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Osmanabad, Latur, Parbhani, Hingoli & Nanded are facing numerous issues because of the current agricultural scenario and the drought that has caused a lot of deaths over the years. On coming to a proper research and analysis on the facts figures and discussions with the farmers, there is an urgent need of an infrastructure that can protect this agro based industry and the farmers on whom this whole society is dependent in order to feed the growing population.

In today’s date farmers are neglected and taken for granted, hence this attitude is not just reflected in the market lobby but also in the society. They and their hard work are not given a due respect, neither in the prices of the market nor in their individual, physical presence in the markets. All they need is secure income, respect of the society towards them and their occupation and most importantly a communication that shall easily connect them to the urban areas. A place of coming together and celebrating this noble occupation and most importantly a place that shall teach them, that shall guide them, that shall set a new business model and at the same time become a place of common interaction and relaxation.

The following brief expects to design an agro fulcrum for farmers at Marathwada where this agro fulcrum shall server as a core-centre for agriculture related aspects. Where farmers can visit frequently and completely entertained for all the necessary agro-requirements. Unlike krishi vigyan Kendra, this agro fulcrum collectively provides all the necessary facilities and not just looks after the institutional part but also looks forward to amalgamate the commercial and socio-cultural part which indeed has a very important part to play.

This is a proposal of a small module on a land of 26 acres which can serve only a district, hence eight such agro fulcrums should be provided in all the respective eight districts of Marathwada in order to solve the issues at the micro level. This will be a site specific architecture intervention which aims to carry similar business and spatial module for all the eight districts. This brief targets Osmanabad as the first districts among the eight.

The proposal for the module is to the government which shall get an opportunity for the entrepreneurs to come up with their individual start up programs in the field of agriculture and help in securing the income for the farmers and earn at the same time. Talking about the Design the site is divided into two levels- upper level and lower level and strategically the buildings are positioned in each level with a unique design ideology, moreover the storm water harvesting is considered and design strategies with water cups i.e. to store water and share it during the drought.
