The title ‘ Kala Marusthali ‘ carries the very essence of the project in itself. In Hindi, ‘ Kala ‘ means Art, and ‘ Marusthali’ means Desert. In all its facets, India is a very diverse country. Although variable throughout the country, Indian culture is an essential basis of the country’s diversity. With this variegated culture, it is unique in all its regards, therefore, establishing its importance. Renowned for the best riding camels in the world, Bikaner lies in medieval splendor, a royal fortified city with a timeless appeal, is not only known for its architectural legacy but also for its colorful culture. However, despite the popular architecture the local arts and crafts face a setback and have mostly remained obscure. Once very popular and a major source of income, they are now sidelined and will soon get depleted. The project emerges as an initiative to reinstate its medieval popularity.
