Karachi’s architecture is defined by multiplicity. Both following tradition and breaking from it, contemporary projects contend with multiple histories. Informed by the coexistence and juxtaposition of conditions like regulated development and informal settlements in Karachi, modern designs are being shaped by broader contexts. In turn, public and private projects are exploring new spaces and forms. We as budding architects explored circle, one of the most basic and strongest shape in nature and architecture that often symbolizes unification, totality or wholeness to design bus shelters for our city. Our concept of “Unification” to describe a multi-diverse city is to show how people in our city are still united to one another through deep historical roots. Therefore what shape could have been used to describe unification more better than a circle.
